Who is Julie Fender?

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Julie brings over 25 years of experience with couples and individuals into the therapy process. She builds a therapeutic connection with her clients and draws on her creativity and their strengths to explore new possibilities and real life strategies to overcome life’s challenges. Julie utilizes a comprehensive approach in treating clients, including integrating faith-based beliefs for those interested in doing so. She is also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and frequent speaker/trainer on a variety of health and wellness topics and provides critical incident response to area workplaces.

What is her expertise?

Julie specializes in couples and individual counseling. In couples therapy, she draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Relationship Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy to help couples identify their negative interaction patterns, understand what drives them, and most importantly, learn how to disrupt the unhealthy pattern and create a more satisfying connection.

In individual therapy, she specializes in anxiety, depression and relational issues using Cognitive Behavioral and Attachment Focused Therapies. Her holistic approach incorporates physical health and wellness into the treatment of mental and emotional health.

Julie’s background in organizational psychology positions her to specialize in workplace issues and to find productive solutions at both the organizational and personal level.

Julie received her undergraduate degree from Miami University and her Masters degree in Counseling and Business from Ohio University. She is married and is a recent empty nester. This new chapter has fueled a passion to help families launch children into adulthood successfully and for couples to thrive in this stage of their relationship.
