Who is Heidi Tucker?
Heidi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of San Diego. Her focus is with adults and couples where she incorporates an integrative approach to treatment including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Heidi believes in treating the whole person and being attentive to the emotional, physical, spiritual and social design and needs of the individual. She honors a client’s desire to incorporate their faith into therapy as a source of strength and perspective.
What is her expertise?
In her work with couples, Heidi uses Attachment Therapy to assist clients in understanding the “why” behind their interactions and reactions in relationships. Helping couples explore the impact of their earliest relationships allows them to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Healing often begins as couples develop compassion and empathy for each other. As the foundation of their relationship begins to repair, they tend to experience harmony and a deeper satisfaction in their connection. Heidi strives to provide a safe and nonjudgmental place where couples can feel heard, supported, and encouraged.
In her work with individuals, Heidi uses EMDR to promote healing and restoration. She trained with the EMDR Institute, where EMDR found its beginning over 30 years ago. EMDR is an effective and evidence-based treatment for conditions including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, PTSD, sleep disturbance, grief and anger. She has developed her own style of EMDR that is flexible and is tailored to the needs of the client. Heidi also draws from Attachment and Cognitive Behavioral therapies to equip clients with necessary tools to successfully navigate challenges they may face.
